Udaipur: The Class X student’s home was demolished by the Udaipur Municipal Corporation on Saturday after he was charged with using a knife to attack a classmate on Friday, sparking unrest in the city.

According to officials, the house—which was allegedly constructed on forest land—was evacuated before the demolition process began, and the electricity connection was cut. The Municipal Corporation and the Forest Department posted a notice on the house, and at about midday, the demolition drive started.

According to Forest Department representatives, the house was built unlawfully on department-owned land. According to municipal officials, the basement included three rooms, a kitchen, and a shop that has now been destroyed. Drones were used to monitor the entire drive.

According to Forest Department sources, the family ignored a letter delivered six months ago asking them to remove the “encroachment.”

Violence erupted in the city on Friday following a Class X student’s knife attack at a government school by a fellow student. An enraged crowd set nearly six automobiles on fire, and reports of stone-throwing were received from several areas of the city.

As per reports, the students were from different communities, which led to tension in the city.

Following arson, a sizable police force was called in, and in some areas of the city, they were forced to use lathi-charge to subdue the restless crowd. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha (BNSS) were additionally issued.

District Education Officer Lokesh Bharti confirmed that two 15-year-old classmates at a government school in the Bhatiyani Chauhatta area got into a fight after lunch and that one of the students then used a knife to stab the other in the leg.

Meanwhile, doctors at the MB Hospital confirmed on Saturday that the injured student’s condition is stable.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has sent a team of specialist doctors to Udaipur to treat the injured student. The team includes a neurophysician, neurosurgeon, nephrologist, and other specialists.
