Ghaziabad: The first Monday of Shravan was a testament to the unwavering devotion of the worshippers, as they formed long queues outside temples, eager to begin their sacred rituals.

In the Hindu calendar, Shravan, sometimes called Sawan, is a holy month devoted to Lord Shiva.

As early as 4 a.m., devotees started to form a line at the Dudheshwar Nath Temple in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. They carried out the profound ‘Jalabhishek’ ritual for Lord Shiva, a practice deeply rooted in their faith, while being closely monitored to avoid any disturbances.

The Shravan holy month falls on July 22 and ends on August 19 this year. The whole month is blessed, but Mondays are especially auspicious. This time, Shravan has five days in a month, with Mondays serving as both its beginning and finishing days.

Commencing this auspicious month under the constellation ‘Shravan’ signifies that Lord Shiva’s blessings will be particularly plentiful and that the Moon’s influence will alleviate numerous issues.

The Ghaziabad police, in anticipation of the thousands of devotees expected at the Dudheswar Nath Temple, had earlier released a comprehensive road diversion plan. The devotees now have a clear pathway, as the police have walled the area and totally blocked vehicle movement, ensuring a smooth and safe experience for all.

In addition, the police control room monitors the entire area through a network of high-definition CCTV cameras, ensuring that any potential issues can be identified and addressed promptly.

As of today, there will be a marked increase in the movement of Kanwar Yatris, or Kanwariyas.

As hundreds of Kanwariyas travel to Haridwar and Rishikesh to gather water from the Ganga River and subsequently offer it at Lord Shiva temples upon returning home, strict security measures and traffic arrangements have been implemented.
