Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the schedule of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections today and responded to questions about EVMs.
He said, “People ask how EVMs cannot be hacked when they blow up the pager. The pager is connected; the EVM is not connected. Let me tell you two things in brief. FLC, i.e., First-Level Checking of EVMs, is done 5-6 months in advance. We have received 20 complaints about EVMs. We will respond to each complaint separately… fact by fact. If the candidates ask this, then it is our duty. We will tell them soon and in writing….”
