Los Angeles: The iconic international star Tom Cruise added a touch of glamour to the Paris Olympics closing ceremony. His daring leap from the top of the largest stadium in France, Stade de France, marked a significant moment—the handover from the Paris Olympics to the highly anticipated Los Angeles Games in 2028.

As Tom Cruise made his dramatic descent from the top of the Stade de France, it was a moment that truly brought the Hollywood spirit to the Paris Olympics. His leap symbolised the transition from the Paris Olympics to the eagerly awaited Los Angeles Games in 2028, giving the closing ceremony a palpable (Hollywood) feel.

Amidst thunderous applause, the actor was greeted by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who received the Olympic banner from Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo.

According to Variety, Tom, with the flag in tow, hopped onto a specially designed motorcycle and rode out of the stadium. As the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘By the Way’ played in the background, the actor’s journey was nothing short of a Hollywood action sequence. He rode down the Paris streets, with the city’s iconic landmarks passing by, and finally drove into a waiting plane, ready to make the symbolic delivery to Los Angeles.

In a pre-recorded segment, Tom parachuted out of the aircraft and landed by the Hollywood sign. This iconic moment not only showcased his daring spirit but also symbolized the union of Hollywood and the Olympics. Once he touched down at the famous landmark, Cruise attached the five Olympic rings to it, signifying the city’s readiness to host the 2028 Games.

Tom Cruise, a regular at these summer Olympics, added to the star-studded atmosphere. He was present at the opening ceremony on July 27 and attended various competitions alongside stars like Steven Spielberg, Ariana Grande, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Matthew Broderick.

France’s Culture Minister Rachida Dati named him a Knight of the Legion of Honor on July 26.

The Paris Olympics, a spectacle of grandeur, hosted competitions at iconic landmarks such as Place de la Concorde, the Eiffel Tower, Chateau de Versailles, and the Grand Palais. The opening ceremony, a historic first, took place outdoors along the Seine River and featured performances by Lady Gaga and Celine Dion.
