Chennai:On Friday, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court instructed the government of Tamil Nadu to pay Rs 25 lakh compensation, provide a house and work for a pregnant lady who was transfused with HIV-infected blood in a government hospital in the district of Virudhunagar.
The tribunal also instructed the government to provide the lady from Sattur with free medical therapy while hearing a petition to ensure secure transfusion of blood and compensation for her.
Last December, as she was anaemic at the public clinic in Sattur, the pregnant woman was transfused with HIV-infected blood.
She later delivered a child that was not impacted by HIV in January this year.
