New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s national spokesperson, Tuhin Sinha, has voiced serious concerns about news that Rahul Gandhi met Khaleda Zia’s son in London. He insisted that Congress make it clear immediately whether this meeting had happened and what was on the agenda if it did.

Speaking to IANS, Tuhin Sinha mentioned that a senior journalist from Bangladesh has made a significant allegation against the Leader of Opposition (LoP), Rahul Gandhi. The allegation is that last month in London, Rahul Gandhi met Khaleda Zia’s son and allegedly gave a “green signal” to the ongoing movement in Bangladesh.

A BJP spokesman called this a very serious charge against Rahul Gandhi and demanded an explanation from the Congress.

He asked Rahul Gandhi if he had met Khaleda Zia’s son during his ten days in London last month and insisted on knowing the meeting’s agenda.

According to Tuhin Sinha, during a demonstration in favour of Palestine on August 8, Rahul Gandhi met with a team that included economist Jean Drèze, who was jailed the next day.

Nadeem Khan, an activist who has long supported a civil war in Bangladesh, was also present at the demonstration.

He questioned whether Rahul Gandhi was guiding these individuals at his home in Delhi on August 8 about the protest scheduled for the next day when Hindus in Bangladesh were in danger.

Concerning the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, he also expressed concern about Rahul Gandhi’s and his sister Priyanka Gandhi’s silence.

Sinha brought up Rahul Gandhi’s remarks from March 31 of this year, stating, “The country will burn if BJP comes to power.” Tuhin Sinha proposed that Rahul Gandhi should elucidate the meaning behind that statement in view of these fresh accusations. He asked if Gandhi wanted things in India to be like in Bangladesh.

He went on to say that this might be the clearest example of the Congress party’s “urban Naxal” mindset to date.
