China withholds permissio

China has put on hold a special Indian flight that was scheduled to carry medicines and relief supplies and evacuate Indians still stuck in Wuhan, the epicenter of Covid-19. Beijing didn’t respond positively to India’s gesture for unknown reasons.

The Government of India had on February 17, 2020 announced that it would send Indian Air Force’s largest plane C-17 Globemaster with medical supplies to Wuhan and evacuate Indian residents in the city. China had permitted two special Air India flights to evacuate 647 Indians and seven Maldivians earlier this month.

Sources believe that China perhaps withheld permission for another flight due to pressure from Pakistan which had been receiving lot of flak for its indifference to its own citizens stuck in China and for its inability to rescue them. Around 77,000 people have been infected with coronavirus in China and 2,250 have died of the infection.
