Indians stranded in Iraq

40 Indian construction workers are still stranded in a besieged city of Mosul in Iraq. The Ministry of External affairs said it is in touch with the Indian Diaspora staying in different parts of Iraq. The MEA, however, did not confirm or deny the kidnapping of the workers.

The nation which was thrown into the cauldron of bloodsheds and civil war since past couple of weeks when the ethnic Sunnis took to streets against the Shia-dominated regime had cost hundreds of lives there.  However, there is no report of any Indian casualty in Iraq.

Meanwhile, the hapless relatives of those trapped in the war-torn nation sought the Indian government’s intervention in their rescue.
