Moscow: Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that statements made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about possible negotiations with Russia lacked credibility.

According to Xinhua news agency, the remark came after Zelensky recently suggested that Russian delegates ought to attend a follow-up peace conference on Ukraine planned for November, a move that could have significant implications for the peace process.

Russia does not trust the president of Ukraine, Zakharova stated on Wednesday at her monthly news briefing.

Zakharova’s emphasis on the lack of action from Zelensky, his government, or his ‘Western curators’ to overturn the legislation prohibiting talks with Russia underscores the potential impact of Kiev’s actions on the peace process.

Zakharova further implied that the Ukrainian president and Kiev’s Western backers might be attempting to push their abandoned ‘peace formula’, a set of proposals for resolving the conflict that Russia has previously rejected, one more time.
