New Delhi: The commitment of multinational defence corporation Lockheed Martin to implementing the idea of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’, a strategic initiative by the Indian government to promote local manufacturing and global exports, has been praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On Thursday, Lockheed Martin CEO Jim Taiclet had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Lockheed Martin’s contribution to India’s defence capabilities is significant. The company has provided India with access to a variety of cutting-edge defence technologies, enhancing the country’s military capabilities in key areas such as aerospace, naval systems, missile defence, and strategic capabilities.

The company and Tata Advanced Systems Limited have formed a joint venture to manufacture the C 130 J empennage in Hyderabad. Notably, the company has successfully produced and delivered over 200 empennages, demonstrating its commitment and capability. Furthermore, the company has increased the percentage of locally sourced components, contributing to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Additionally, Lockheed Martin moved its helicopter cabin manufacturing facilities from Japan to India.

The Indian Air Force’s fleet includes a sizable number of the company’s C 130 J transport aircraft.
