Amid nationwide protest against the murder of an 8-year-old girl in Kashmir getting bigger after she was gang raped, Surat Police has said that the girl who was found dead in the city with lot of injuries in her body was possibly held captive, tortured and raped before being killed.
The police are yet to confirm the identity of the girl and believes her age to be between 9 and 11 years and the autopsy reports reveals that she had suffered major injuries, at least 86 injuries in her body, including private parts caused by a blunt object.
The rape and the murder of the Surat girl is the latest in a string of cases where an 8-year-old girl was brutally raped and then killed in Kashmir and also a 16-year old was allegedly raped by a BJP lawmaker in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district already generated widespread protests across the country.
