Air India bans single use

Air India is set to impose a ban on all of its flights on plastic products such as bags, cups and straws. "The use of plastics in Air India and the low-cost subsidiary Air India Express will be totally banned from 2 October," Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani said on Thursday. The airline will use environmentally friendly wood cutlery instead of plastic cutlery for special meals. Crew meal cutlery with light-weight steel cutlery will be replaced. It will replace plastic tumblers and teacups with paper varieties.

In the first phase, it will implement in all flights of Air India Express and Alliance air flights and in the second phase, it will be implemented in Air India flights.
