Assam Govt Publishes NRC

ME NEWS BUREAU: Assam government has published the part draft of the much-anticipated National Register of citizens(NRC) which includes 1.9 crore people out of which total 3.29 crore people had applied for in the state.

The whole list of citizens will be published within the year 2018.

The need for NRC had been a call for a long time and the work started in way back 2013 under the guidance and instructions of Supreme Court.

Registrar General of India(RGI) Sailesh revealed the publication of the list during his press meet and said that more people will be added in the remaining part of the register which is currently under the various stages of verification.

“People whose names are not included in the current NRC have no need to worry as their names will feature in the later part of the register. It means that the absentees are under the verification process going on”, Sailesh said.

The current NRC published by the RGI will be available in the www.nrcassam.nic.inwww.assam.gov.inwww.assam.mygov.in and www.homeandpolitical.assam.gov.in
