Media Eye News Bureau: BJP continued to perform strongly in the assembly elections in the country as they defeated the dominant left in Tripura.

BJP emerged as the single largest party with a sufficient majority in Tripura which is considered to be the main stronghold of left parties, also known as the 'red fort.'

The BJP secured 41 seats out of 59. Prior to this, the BJP had never secured a single seat in the state assembly before which shows the prowess of the Modi government and their campaign as well.

Further, the BJP in Nagaland lead with 32 seats surpassing the required majority of 31.

The Congress lost in both, Tripura and Nagaland. However, the Congress seems to be leading in Meghalaya as they have secured 23 seats so far, still 8 short of the majority 31.

The Northeast victory is said to give a boost to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah as the party received some setbacks in the recent by-polls in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
