The Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha has demanded the instant release of Indian charity worker Alexis Prem Kumar in Afghanistan by Taliban early on Friday morning.

In a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, the Tamil Nadu CM has sought his intervention in the release of Alexis. The Afghan government continued its negotiation with the Taliban for his immediate release.

Meanwhile, the three suspects have been reportedly arrested by the Afghanistan security forces in the abduction of the Indian aid worker early on Friday morning.

The demand for 47-yr-old Alexis – who was abducted six days ago in broad day light – 12 days after an attack on Indian embassy, allegedly by the Pak-bred ultras in Heart – is growing shriller. MEA is already in touch with the Afghan government, the ministry’s spokesperson informed media persons on Friday.
