Sources from the Government of India said that British Member of Parliament Debbie Abrahams’s visa was revoked for her anti-India activities. The MP who was critical of India’s move of abrogating article 370 and 35A granting special status to Jammu & Kashmir was sent back from New Delhi airport.

Sources pointed out that Abrahams wasn’t having a valid visa at the time of her travel to India and was forced to return. Interestingly, she was issued an e-business visa on October 7, 2019 which was valid until October 5, 2020 for attending business meetings. Her e-business visa was revoked on February 14, 2020 on account of her indulging in anti-India activities. The rejection was intimated to her before she boarded the plane to India.

Congress parliamentarian Abhishek Sanghvi backed the government’s move of deporting Abrahams. Justifying the decision Sanghvi said that Debbie Abrahams was known for her proximity to Pakistan and ISI. Every attempt to attack India’s sovereignty must be aborted.

Abrahams was among a group of MPs who had written formal letters expressing unhappiness on India’s revocation of special status to Jammu & Kashmir.
