China today welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping offering India’s solidarity and help to deal with coronavirus outbreak. China said that the gesture demonstrated New Delhi’s friendship with Beijing. The deadly virus has claimed over 900 lives in China and PM Modi has assured China of all possible help to deal with coronavirus.
Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang released a statement thanking and appreciating India’s support for China’s fight against the NCP Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia, the official name for coronavirus. India’s acts of goodwill are a measure of its friendship with China, Shuang said when asked to comment on PM Modi’s letter to Xi Jinping.
Following the outbreak of coronavirus several countries have evacuated their citizens from China and restricted the movement of goods and people to and from China, India has followed suit as a precautionary measure. Shuang said that China is ready to work with India and the international community to tackle coronavirus and safeguard public health.
