Finance minister Arun Jaitley recently spoke out against the Congress in the Lok Sabha for demanding details of the Rafale deal and stated that it would compromise national security and pointed out that under the UPA government the then defence ministers Pranab Mukherjee and AK Antony had both refused to divulge details of defence deals as well. He said, “Your party was stigmatised when you were in government because of allegations of corruption. Now you want to manufacture an allegation and want the price of Rafale deal to be disclosed.”
He added, “It is in larger interest of the country these are never disclosed. These security pacts are inherent part of these details. By giving details on the cost you are also giving details of the weapon system and their capacity.”
Congress president Rahul Gandhi had alleged that the Rafale deal is a scam and sought details regarding it despite defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman stating that the details of the same cannot be revealed as it was classified information under inter-governmental agreement.
