Curfew has been imposed in northeast Delhi’s Maujpur, Jaffrabad, Chand Bagh and Karawal Nagar areas following fresh incidents of violence by unruly crowds protesting the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The clashes between two groups, one seeking its rollback and the other supporting it have been raging for quite some days now. Curfew was imposed following the death of ten people including one police head constable and many including journalists were injured in attacks. Section 144 has been imposed on Delhi for one month.

Meanwhile a Delhi police spokesperson said that BJP leader Kapil Mishra’s speech was under investigation and the police will investigate all FIRs that have been registered and if a main conspirator is found then action will be taken against him. Delhi Police PRO M.S. Randhawa said that the situation is brought under control. He warned anti-social elements saying that drones have been deployed to monitor the situation.
