ME News Bureau: New Delhi: The Centre has prolonged the deadline to link Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar by three months, the new deadline being March 31.
The Finance Ministry stated, "It has come to notice that some of the taxpayers have not yet completed the linking of PAN with Aadhaar. Therefore, to facilitate the process of linking, it has been decided to further extend the time for linking of Aadhaar with PAN till 31st March, 2018."
In context of the problems faced by taxpayers in the procedure, the date for linking of Aadhaar with PAN was earlier prolonged till August 31, 2017, which was subsequently extended tell 31st December 31, 2017.
Under the provisions of recently introduced section 139AA of the Income-Tax Act, 1961, with effect from July 1, 2017, all taxpayers having Aadhaar Number are supposed to link it with their PAN.
