New Delhi: Former finance minister P Chidambaram's petition seeking permission to surrender to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was rejected by a Delhi court Friday. He's going to stay in prison until September 19. Chidambaram is presently being lodged in the INX Media case in Tihar Jail as part of the investigation. Since September 5, the leader of Congress has been in judicial custody. On August 21, he was detained by the CBI and spent 14 days in the custody of the agency.On Thursday, the Delhi High Court asked a status report from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Chidambaram's request for periodic bail in the event of INX Media. It was asked that the investigation agency file the report within 7 days.
