New Delhi: In an attempt to combat the deadly coronavirus which has reached the national capital, Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Bagga has requested the Delhi Police to temporarily halt breath analysis tests for drunk drivers to contain the highly contagious nature of the virus.
"In light of the ongoing COVID-2019 (coronavirus) infection, to prevent further spread of the disease, I request you to please suspend the breath analysis test for drunk drivers." Bagga mentioned in his letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner.
He added, "Breath is one of the main reasons behind the spread of the virus. Once the situation normalises, you may resume this exercise in the national capital." He added.
The first case of coronavirus in Delhi was detected on Monday and six suspected cases were also detected in Agra, who came in contact with the person from Delhi found to be infected.
28 cases of coronavirus have been reported across India, including 16 Italian nationals who have been quarantined on Wednesday.
The world figure of people dying due to the life threatening virus is 3,110 people.
