Srinagar: Most of the chemist stores stayed open in the Kashmir Valley on Sunday as Governor Satya Pal Malik refused any shortage in Jammu and Kashmir of drugs and vital commodities, and said communication curbs helped save many life in the state. In a declaration, 1,165 out of 1,666 chemist stores in Srinagar stayed open on Sunday, the Jammu and Kashmir administration said.

Malik said that there was no shortage of drugs and vital commodities in Jammu and Kashmir and  there were enough stocks accessible to purchase individuals. "We actually delivered on Eid meat, vegetables and eggs to the doorsteps of people," he said. "If communication blockade helps save life, what's the damage?" he said when asked journalists to comment on how long the limitations will continue.Malik said that in the past, whenever there was a crisis in Kashmir, at least 50 people used to die in the first week itself. "Our position that human life should not be lost. ' 10 nahi honge din telephone, nahi honge, lekin bahut jaldi sab wapas kar denge. (If there's no 10-day telephone link, so be it. But we're going to rebuild it quickly), ' he said.
