Jaipur: For the second day in a row, Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, experienced intense rains on Thursday. Various parts of the city were flooded, and waterlogged roadways left commuters stuck.

According to an official, residents were relocated to safer areas and civil defence troops were sent to areas where the flood-like situation was deemed serious.

According to Amit Sharma, Deputy Controller of the Civil Defence Department, Jawahar Nagar’s strong rainfall was raising the water levels in several homes quickly. A rescue squad was sent out to help the occupants and move them.

He added that arrangements had also been made to use pumps to help drain the water.

In a number of social media-circulating videos and images of flooded streets, people were seen stumbling to cross the road.

With the exception of ten districts in southern Rajasthan, nearly every district has seen average rainfall this season.

Weather officials say the state will get less rainfall starting on August 17.

Heavy rains in Jaipur on Wednesday caused flooding and waterlogging in numerous city areas, restricting commuters.

Three to four feet of water logging on highways in several regions of the city caused massive traffic jams.

Numerous cars, motorbikes, and other vehicles developed technical snags in the centre of the road.

There were severe traffic bottlenecks along the Jaipur-Delhi highway, which also flooded.

The Jaipur Traffic Police, in a series of advisories posted on X, wrote: “Due to heavy rains in Jaipur city, there is waterlogging, so do not take your vehicle into the waterlogged area. Waterlogging has occurred in many areas of the city. Jaipur Police request you to avoid visiting such places and use safe routes. Be alert for your safety and take extra precautions during rain. In case of emergency, contact helpline number 100 or 101.”
