Media Eye News Bureau: A day after four senior most judges of the Supreme Court revolted against the Chief Justice of India, Justice Kurian Joseph, one among the four judges said there is “no need for outside intervention” to resolve the issue.

Another one, Justice Ranjan Gogoi , who is in line to be the next CJI, said there is “no crisis”.

The two judges, along with Justice Chelameswar and Justice Madan B Lokur, had held a press conference, on Friday expressed their displeasure over the conduct of CJI Dipak Misra, and outlined the urgency to save the “system and democracy”.

Speaking to mediapersons at his hometown in Kerala, Justice Joseph said the matter was not brought to  the attention of the President of India as he has no constitutional authority over Supreme Court or its judges.

“An issue was raised. Those concerned listened to it. Such issues would not happen in future. I think the issue has been settled now”, he said.

Earlier, on Friday, four judges, held a press conference at the lawns of Justice Chelameswar’s official residence, pointed out the flaws in the judicial system and made an appeal to save it at the earliest unless it will end up in the fallout of democracy.

They also made public a seven page letter, which they had written to the CJI, pointing out that “certain judicial orders passed by this court” had “adversely affected the overall functioning of the justice delivery system and the independence of the High Courts, besides impacting the administrative functioning of the office of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India”.
