Karti Chidambaram, son of former finance minister and Congress leader P Chidambram has further landed in trouble after jailed media promoter Indrani Mukerjea stood by her claims when both, Mukerjea and Chidambaram, confronted each other at Byculla jail, where she stated firmly that she paid bribes to him to overcome the financial irregularities noticed by the Income tax department, reports Times of India.
CBI sources said that details of Sunday's questioning will be shared with the court when Karti is produced on Tuesday.
Karti, who is already under arrest, was taken to Mumbai's jail and confronted directly with Mukerjea, who is charged in a separate case that of the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora and lodged in the women's prison at Byculla and the two were questioned together for over four hours.
Karti was arrested following Indrani's statement before the magistrate that Karti Chidambaram's father P Chidambaram allegedly sought her and her husband Peter Mukerjea's help to run his son's business.
She also recorded that Karti also asked for a $1 million bribe from them to secure FIPB approval in favour of INX Media.
