Following its successful launches of Tejas Express, Indian Rail Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will launch its third corporate train. The Kashi Mahakal Express will have its inaugural run between Varanasi and Indore on February 16, IRCTC officials said today. The train is expected to begin its commercial run from February 20.

IRCTC has revealed that the train will be superfast and will have air-conditioned coaches with sleeping berths for its overnight journey. IRCTC is yet to announce the time table of the train. As per IRCTC the train will connect three places, Jyotirlinga – Omkareshwar (near Indore in Madhya Pradesh), Mahakaleshwar (Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh) and Kashi Vishwanath (Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh), besides also connecting the industrial and educational hub of Indore, and Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.

The train will journey three times a week between Varanasi and Indore via Ujjain, Sant Hiradnagar (Bhopal), Bina, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow/Prayagraj and Sultanpur. IRCTC is extending facilities to passengers such as high quality vegetarian food, bedrolls, and housekeeping and security services. Passengers travelling in the train will also be covered with a complimentary travel insurance of Rs.10 lakhs during the journey.

Passengers can book tickets on IRCTC website or its mobile app as well as authorized travel agents. The train will have an advance reservation period of 120 days and will only have the general and foreign tourist quotas. Current booking will be available to passengers at the station itself after preparation of the first chart, 4 hours to 5 minutes before scheduled departure of the train.
