On Thursday, the BJP expelled Uttar Pradesh MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is a defendant in the case of Unnao rape and was booked by the CBI on Wednesday for supposed participation in the survivor's accident that left her with critical wounds.

Sengar, 52, a four-time MLA, is charged in 2017 for raping the woman. She was then seventeen years old. The girl and her lawyer were wounded and two of her aunts were murdered in Rae Bareli on Sunday when the vehicle they were traveling in was hit by a speeding truck.

 The CBI named Sengar, his brother and their supposed colleagues as Vinod Mishra, Hari Pal Singh, Navin Singh, Komal Singh, Arun Singh, Gyanendra Singh, Rinku Singh and advocate Awadesh Singh in their FIR on the incident. Ten to fifteen other individuals are also suspects who have not been recognized.
