Lakes receive good rainfall

Even though it didn’t rained much in Mumbai on Wednesday,  there was a significant rise in the water stock of the seven lakes that supply water to Mumbai has been recorded. On June 24, it was 267,135 million litres, or water for 71 days, up from Sunday's 185,001 million litres, which meant a supply reserve for 49 days.  Remarks a BMC official, “This is certainly good news as lakes are slowly filling up.”

Except for Vihar, which received 55.4mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, all the lakes received over 100mm. Modak Sagar got 110.2mm, Tansa 121.8mm, Tulsi 109mm, Upper Vaitarna 126mm, Bhatsa 112mm and Middle Vaitarna 121mm. While Middle Vaitarna's level rose by 2.03 metre, Upper Vaitarna and Bhatsa's rose by over 1 metre. 

The increase in cumulative water stock was 43,104 million litres, or eleven days of water for the city, which gets a daily supply of 3,750 million litres.
