After seven states in Malaysia have banned Zakir Naik from speaking in public space, the controversial Islamic preacher has now been banned from speaking anywhere in the country, Malaysian police have informed.

The move to ban Naik from speaking in public space came after the authorities questioned him over the last two days about his intention to provoke a violation of peace by  allegedly making remarks against Hindus and Chinese residing in Muslim-majority nation.

The Malaysian police grilled Zakir Naik for more than 10 hours. His declaration has been registered at Malaysia's Bukit Aman Police Headquarters. His lawyer, Akhberdin Abdul Kader, accompanied Naik.

He was challenged for the second time for deliberate insult under Section 504 of the Malaysian Penal Code with the intention of provoking a violation of peace.
