Many of the city homes are without power after Friday’s heavy downpour. More than 16,000 households were without electricity for two days following Friday's downpour. Power supply was restored at 10,000 homes till Sunday morning. Angry residents took out a morcha to the BEST electricity division in Dadar to protest on Sunday afternoon.

They complained that some parts of the city were without electricity for 24 to 38 hours. "My old parents were without electricity for two nights. The lights finally came back after 38 hours, but there were power fluctuations. Supply was restored totally in 45 hours," said Unmesh Joshi, from Mahim (W). A resident of Maganlal Dayabhai building, close to the railway station, he said that at least 40 others were badly affected. Supply was restored at 11.30am on Sunday.

BEST general manager Jagdish Patil, who met angry residents on Sunday, assured them that his teams will try to restore supply at all places by Monday evening, if the weather permits. "We received 200 complaints of cable faults and 589 fuse calls since Friday afternoon. We have fixed 120 cable faults, and of the 16,000 meter-holders, we have restored supply for 10,000 citizens. We are getting additional teams from MSEDCL and BMC, with specialized vehicles, to restore supply on a war-footing," he said.
