Media Eye News Bureau: Canadian premier Justin Trudeau met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today five days after landing in India, at his ceremonial welcome in Delhi's Rashtrapati Bhavan.
After Trudeau, his wife Sophie, and children Xavier, Ella-Grace and Hadrien, alighted from a car on the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Modi shook hands with Trudeau and then hugged him.
This meeting comes amid controversy over a Khalistan seperatist being invited for a dinner party in Mumbai.
PM Modi greeted Mr Trudeau with his signature bear-hug and posed for photographs with his family, including his daughter Ella Grace, seen in a 2015 photo tweeted by Mr Modi last evening.
Earlier on Thursday, Mr. Modi tweeted, "I look forward to meeting PM @JustinTrudeau and holding talks on further strengthening India-Canada relations in all spheres. I appreciate his deep commitment to ties between our two countries."
Prime Minister Modi spoke about Mr. Trudeau for the first time after almost five days since the Canadian PM arrived in India.
