New Delhi: The Chandrayaan 2 moon mission is planned to land on Saturday on the lunar surface at 1:55 am as India seeks to produce history by becoming the first nation to reach the southern pole of the moon closest.
For an ideal touchdown between 1:30 am and 2:30 am on Saturday, the moon lander Vikram, who separated from his orbiting mothership, has already conducted two maneuvers to reduce his altitude.

According to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the rover Pragyan will roll out from the moon lander between 5:30 am and 6:30 am. It will conduct studies, including a thorough mapping of the resources of the moon, searching for the presence of water, and also clicking pictures of high resolution.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and school children will see the historic landing live from the space agency's control room.
