Bhopal: Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his followers, social activist Medha Patkar, who leads the Narmada Bachao Andolan, said the birthday celebrations of PM Modi surpassed the grief of those impacted by the Sardar Sarovar Dam project.
Ms Patkar has alleged that around 192 villages in three districts of Madhya Pradesh — Dhar, Barwani and Alirajpur — were marooned after the Gujarat government raised the water level of the Sardar Sarovar Dam to 138.68 metres.
The birthday of Prime Minister Modi was celebrated as a festival, but the people affected are still to be rehabilitated. The water level in the dam has been raised before its schedule as the birthday of Modi falls on September 17, "Ms Patkar said.
