President appoints Om Pra

Media Eye News Bureau: The President Ram Nath Kovind appointed the senior-most Election Commissioner, Om Prakash Rawat as the Chief Election Commissioner in the Election Commission.

Om Prakash Rawat will assume the charge of office of the Chief Election Commissioner with effect from the 23^rdJanuary, 2018. Current Chief Achal Kumar Joti to demit the Office on 22^nd January.

Further, the President also appointed Ashok Lavasa, IAS(Retd.) as the Election Commissioner with effect from the date he assumes the office with effect from 23^rd January, 2018.
