In the early hours of Sunday former leader of the former Bharatiya Jana Sangh, P Parameswaran, died. He was one of senior-most Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ' pracharaks ' and the founder-director of BharatheeyaVichara Kendram. He was honoured with Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian award in 2018 and Padma Shri in 2004.
