Russia supported India's move on Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the status changes are within the Indian Constitution and hoped that the differences between India and Pakistan will be resolved bilaterally on the grounds of the Simla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration. India revoked Article 370 of the Constitution on Monday to withdraw the temporary unique status granted to Jammu and Kashmir in 1954 and bifurcated the state into two territories of the Union – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Moscow expects that India and Pakistan will not allow the situation in the region to worsen owing to the transition in the status of Jammu and Kashmir by New Delhi, "The Russian Foreign Ministry said in reaction to issues on Friday.
"We continue from the fact that in the structure of the Constitution of the Republic of India, the modifications connected with the change in the status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and its division into two union territories are carried out," the ministry said.
