Media Eye News Bureau: Some schools in Haryana have announced a holiday for the rest of the week after a terrifying attack by protesters on a school bus in Gurgaon, Haryana.
Top schools in Haryana – Pathways School, GD Goenka world School, Shiv Nadar School and Delhi School will remain closed till Sunday.
A mobile phone video clip that captured the horrible moments of school bus attack showed teachers and students desperately trying to be safe from the stone pelting. Protesters also put a state-run bus, few meters behind the school bus, under fire.
Earlier violence hit normalcy in four states – Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh – on yesterday, prior to the screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial movie ‘Padmaavat’ as groups like Karni Sena intensified their protests.
Karni Sena have vowed to block the film in defiance of Supreme Court orders and reportedly unleashed violence in four states that had initially banned the movie.
Citing the protests, distributors refused to screen “Padmaavat” in Rajasthan. Protesters blocked the Delhi – Jaipur highway, and burnt tyres in Delhi – Ajmer highway. Protestors even burned down the posters of the movie.
Chittoor Fort shuts down only for the second time in history after Karni Sena members tried to break in. The police arrested 30 Karni Sena workers as a preventive measure. In Ahmedabad, 44 others were arrested.
Shri Rajput Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi said his organisation won't allow the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmavaat" at any cost, even if he is arrested.
"January 25 (the film's release) may come and go but we won't let the film release, come what may," he said.
“”We are adamant on our stand that this film Padmaavat should be banned. There should be a self-imposed curfew by people. We cannot let them earn profit by Rajputs”, Karni Sena chief added.
