The festival Rama Navami commemorates the birth of Rama who is remembered for his prosperous and righteous reign. Ramrajya (the reign of Rama) has become synonymous with a period of peace and prosperity. It is generally celebrated with great devotion across the nation and every region has its own regional significance attached to the celebration. But due to the Pandemic, the entire festival was held in a very subdued manner as the temples are closed for the public.

At Sri Shankara Mattham, the temple priests conducted Homams and pujas without involving devotees as the doors are shut for the public. Generally, Ram Navami is celebrated for nine days culminating in Rama Pattabhishekam. For the second year now the celebration is done for one day. The Chief priest Sri Ganesha Sastrigal sat in front of the Lord Rama’s picture and recited Sundara Kandam which is part of Ramayan and seeks divine help to end the Pandemic.
