Sena to go alone in futur

Media Eye News Bureau: Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday presented a resolution to contest all future polls on its own, further twisting its ties with the BJP.

The resolution was passed by unanimously in its national executive meet which also reelected Uddhav Thackeray as the party president.

Tuesday’s meet gave official declaration to Mr. Thackeray’s earlier announcement on his plans to contest alone in future elections, prior to the run up to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls.

New political equations will put an end to its two-decade-long electoral alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, except 2014 Maharashtra assembly polls.

"Be prepared for the next elections. It may be announced simultaneously in December 2018 or may be held separately," Thackeray told to his party leaders in his presidential speech at the National Executive meeting held at Worli.

"Now, we shall contest elections in every state and that too on the Hindutva plank. It is immaterial whether we win or are vanquished but our Hindutva will never be abandoned," Thackeray said in a hard-hitting speech targeting the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
