Delhi's Patila House Court has granted bail to the Congress leader Sashi Tharoor in connection with the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar. The Court allowed regular bail to Tharoor as the court observed that there is no requirement for a formal bail application since he had already furnished a bail bond of Rs one lakh.
A Delhi court had earlier asked Tharoor to appear before the court on July 7, took cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police which alleges Tharoor's role in abetment of suicide and cruelty towards his wife. The Delhi Police had filed the chargesheet on May 14 and put Tharoor as main accused under sections of IPC 306 and 498A.
Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in a five-star hotel in Delhi on January 17, 2014.
