9 Party Leaders Quit

In a setback to the Tripura Congress, the vice president and nine leaders quit  the party a day after party chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman announced his resignation.

Addressing a press conference at Pradyot Kishore Debbarman's residence, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee's General Secretary Sridam Debbarma, who is among the nine leaders, said the "Maharaja Pradyot was forced to resign from the party as he demanded the implementation of NRC and refused to compromise with a section of  leaders," "Now that we've resigned, many more will follow suit in the districts and subdivisions to protest the conspiracy to drive out the ' ' maharaja '. ' We can form an independent party to protect people's interests," he added.
