Media Eye News Bureau: The Congress party apparently took a two-way stand over the “Padmaavat” row as party President Rahul Gandhi criticized the protests gathered against the movie while party General Secretary Digvijay Singh backed the protests, hours after Rahul’s comments.

Digvijay Singh said ‘such films should not be made’.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Padmaavat” was released Thursday morning  across the country amid extensive protests being organized by the fringe groups like Karni Sena who had defied the Supreme Court’s order to screen the movie.

Rahul expressed his displeasure over the terrifying scenes where a school bus carrying many children and teachers were targeted by the hooligans.

There will never be a cause big enough to justify violence against children. Violence and hatred are the weapons of the weak. The BJP's use of hatred and violence is setting our entire country on fire.”, Rahul tweeted..

Hours after Rahul’s comments, Digvijay Singh came out against the film saying it "distorts the history".

"Films that distorts historical facts and hurts the sentiments of any religion or caste then it should not be made," the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister told the media
