As of June 2024, Mumbai’s HSNC University has received 1.5 times more applications than last year and anticipates even greater interest before the final application deadlines in September or October. This surge in applications reflects the enthusiasm and dedication of the prospective students.

The significant surge in applications for programmes like BBI, BAF, and BFM is a testament to the evolving landscape of BMS and B.Com, Management Studies. These programmes, with their unique blend of theoretical and practical learning, are attracting students with diverse interests and career aspirations, further enhancing the reputation of our university.

Rise in STEM programmes

There is a noteworthy rise in interest in STEM programmes. The sciences have seen an upsurge due to the specialised courses the Institution offers, including Medical Microbiology and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. The Cloud Computing programme continues to attract numerous applicants in the IT sector. Additionally, courses in Computer Science, such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Chemistry, particularly Industrial and Applied Chemistry, have seen a notable increase in applications.

Heightened demand for Humanities

In the humanities, social sciences, and arts, the Economics-Sociology subgroup has experienced enhanced demand compared to last year, as reflected in the increased cut-off marks. This is a testament to the students’ evolving academic interests, which the University has played a significant role in shaping through our multidisciplinary electives and skill enhancement courses. The rising demand for Film, Television, and New Media Production programmes further highlights the dynamic nature and expanding opportunities in these fields.

Moreover, students today aspire to pursue law. There is a strong preference for integrated law programmes like BBA LLB and BA LLB. Interestingly, this trend has not affected the applications in the Arts stream. BBA and BMS remain the most sought-after courses despite the confusion this year, showing the steadfast popularity of these programmes.

Increased cut-off

Furthermore, the cut-off marks for Data Science and Business Analytics programmes have consistently increased, rising from 70 % in 2022-2023 to 80 % in 2023-2024 and now to 90 % for the current year, indicating a growing interest and competitiveness in these fields.

Scholarships for meritorious students

HSNC University also prioritises inclusivity and support for various student groups. Scholarships are available for NCC students in armed courses and the Air Force, international and national sports champions, and national cultural artists. Children of single parents, physically disabled students, transgender students, and students committed to community service are also eligible for substantial scholarships.

Innovative programmes

HSNC University has further enhanced its academic offerings with innovative programmes, leading to increased interest. Its new Postgraduate Diploma in Drone Technology and undergraduate programmes, such as a B.A. in Music Production and a B.Sc. in Sound Engineering, are attracting significant attention, given the promising job opportunities in these emerging fields.

The University says it remains committed to fostering an environment where students can thrive, innovate and achieve their aspirations. For now, the University looks forward to welcoming a new cohort of bright and motivated students who will continue to elevate the standards of excellence at HSNC University.
