Anchal Thakur grabs first

ME News Bureau: India put their signature for the first time in the sport of Skiing as Anchal Thakur created history by becoming the first Indian to get a medal for India in the international skiing competition.

Anchal Thakur, 21-year old Manali resident, grabbed bronze in the decorated 3200 cup being organized by the Federation Internationale de Ski – skiing's international governing body – at the Palandoken Ski Centre in Erzurum, Turkey.

Anchal won the bronze medal in the slalom race category.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to twitter to congratulate Anchal: "Well done for winning an international medal in skiing! The entire nation is ecstatic on your historic accomplishment at the FIS International Skiing Competition in Turkey. Wishing you the very best for your future endeavours".

Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore also congratulated Anchal on his Twitter account.
