Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced 100% waiver of water bill late-payment fees by November 30. He said people are eligible for waiver if they have fresh water links.
"When we came to power in 2015, the water situation was bad. People were sitting outside their homes with water bills in their hands when I was campaigning," Mr Kejriwal said as he announced the system ahead of next year's Delhi election. The chief minister said people's complete water bills in categories E, F, G and H-numbering around 10.5 lakh-were waived until next year's March 31. For those in categories A and B, the waiver is 25% ; it is 50% for category C and 75% for category D. The 100 per cent waiver on late-payment charges, however, is applicable across categories, Mr Kejriwal said.
