On Thursday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis initiated his' Mahajanadesh Yatra' from Mozri in Vidarbha district of Amravati, 680 kilometers from Mumbai, promising a drought-free Maharashtra if his government receives a second term after the elections of the assembly. Mozri houses Tukdoji Maharaj's poet-saint and social reformer samadhi.

The chief minister will travel through 150 constituencies of the assembly in 32 districts during the yatra, covering 4,384 km of range. The mass outreach tour, to be conducted in a specially designed van, is aimed at cementing the position of Fadnavis as the state's highest leader and creating a buzz in his favor before the election code of conduct is announced.

"I have no doubt that with a huge mandate we're going to return to power. I'm not afraid of that. What concerns me is the droughts cycle facing our country. We've launched a successful scheme like the Jalyukta Shivar to minimize the impact of drought, but I'll make sure the state is completely drought-free over the next five years, "Fadnavis said.
