Sushil Kumar Modi, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister of Bihar presented a Rs.2,11,761 crores budget for FY 2020-21 in the state assembly today. The budget focuses on education, agriculture, health and environment. 

Presenting the budget Sushil Modi said a provision of more than Rs 11,000 crore has been made in this budget as against last year. He said that an estimated Rs 1,05,766 crore would be spent on the schemes while Rs. 1,05,955 would be spent on establishment and committed expenditure. Rs. 35,191 is expected to be spent on education, Rs.17,435 towards building infrastructure (roads), and Rs.15,955 crores on rural development.

Sushil Modi also told that Bihar has become the first Indian state to present a “Green budget”. He added that special attention has been given to provide piped water to all houses in the state.
