Mathura: Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the ambitious National Animal Disease Control Program (NADCP) in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura on Wednesday, among a host of public schemes for farmers.

With 100% financing from the Centre of Rs 12,652 crore  for five years upto 2024, NADCP seeks to vaccinate more than 500 million animals, including cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats and pigs against foot and mouth illness. The program also seeks to vaccinate 36 million female bovine calves annually in the battle against Brucellosis disease. The program has two components: disease control by 2025 and eradication by 2030.

Modi also personally interacted with farmers, veterinary doctors and plastic waste segregators.
